Good and effective insulation of a building is essential — and when it comes to insulation, you cannot ignore the vapour barrier. It must always be completely airtight and correctly installed to prevent mould and decay in the building’s structures. While many vapour barrier products on the market look similar, have the same function, and are used in the same way — there are also products that do a little more.
A Quick and Efficient Airtightness Solution
Earlier this year, BetaPack, in collaboration with German manufacturer pro clima, launched the spray-applied airtightness sealant AEROSANA VISCONN. This sprayable liquid vapour barrier is not only a fast and efficient solution, but also offers a major ergonomic advantage that enhances the working environment. These benefits became particularly clear in a renovation of two housing blocks on G. Køge Landevej with a combined roof area of 600 m².
Reduced Installation Time and Better Working Conditions
In close collaboration between BetaPack, STARK and the carpentry firm Tømrerfirmaet Lars Printz, the new method using AEROSANA VISCONN together with the reinforced vapour-barrier system alpha Neti was selected — and it proved to be an excellent decision. Not only was installation time cut by 50% after the first housing block, but the new method was also noticeably easier to work with and much more ergonomic for the site crews.
“The new method has saved us the time we used to spend on the traditional workflow, which was slow, cumbersome and physically tougher for our journeymen who had to crawl or kneel for extended periods to reach difficult spots. Moreover, the product is far more efficient and yields a far better final result” says Søren Jønsson, Construction Manager at Tømrerfirmaet Lars Printz.

The many advantages of AEROSANA VISCONN are hard to overlook — the product is easy to use, delivers fast airtightness in hard-to-access areas, reduces labour time and overall lifecycle cost, and is ergonomically a far better choice than traditional methods.
“Previously these sealing tasks were something we tried to avoid. Not any longer. With the new method you no longer have to crawl and strain your body — you can instead complete the work easily and efficiently. Technically, the product also secures a much tighter vapour barrier and thus a better indoor climate.
