Dansand is Denmark’s leading sand specialist and supplier of quartz sand-based solutions for both the professional and private markets.
In the spring of 2024, Dansand faced a challenge with 6.5 tons of surplus film rolls. The films had been collected over several years and could no longer be used due to outdated designs. Dansand therefore needed to find a sustainable solution to ensure the excess films would not become an environmental burden.
To solve this, Dansand turned to BetaPack, which has been delivering film-based packaging solutions and acting as a strategic partner since 2016. In the past, we have helped Dansand reduce the use of virgin laminated plastic film in their packaging. Read more about that case here.
For both Dansand and BetaPack, it was crucial to find a way to transform the 6.5 tons of surplus film into a resource – ensuring the materials would not go to waste. BetaPack therefore reached out to our partner in Poland, Conkret, specialists in regenerating plastic film.
“We sort and convert the film into granulate, which can be used to produce new films and other soft plastic products for the construction industry. This process ensures that the film is not wasted or incinerated but instead recycled and transformed into new products” explains Jens Ravn Sørensen, Product Specialist at BetaPack.
And precisely the ability to avoid waste, recycle materials, and thereby reduce resource consumption is a key focus area for Dansand.
At BetaPack, the circular mindset is at the core – both in terms of the products and services we provide.
“It’s all about the circular mindset – in relation to products, services, and partnerships. We aim to be part of a complete solution and support our customers all the way – including helping them dispose of surplus film that can be recycled” says Peter Hermansen, Key Account Manager at BetaPack and responsible for the Dansand collaboration.
BetaPack also works continuously with Davidsens Tømmerhandel on collecting recycled plastic, focusing on reusing it for building materials and packaging films.
The collaboration between Dansand and BetaPack undoubtedly creates value for both parties, and at BetaPack we are truly pleased to support Dansand in developing their solutions in a positive direction – contributing to their strong focus on responsibility. And fortunately, they appreciate it as much as we do.
