In the spring of 2024, BetaPack’s Key Account Manager, Helle Rasmussen, reached out to Aabybro Mejeri to discuss opportunities for optimizing their packaging. Over a cup of coffee and a good conversation, it quickly became clear that Aabybro Mejeri wanted a simpler and more efficient packaging solution for their energy-dense ice cream. The goal was to reduce plastic usage and minimize the time and costs associated with their previous packaging solution.
The collaboration between BetaPack and UPG began somewhat coincidentally with a challenge UPG could not solve with their existing supplier.
For Aabybro Mejeri, packaging is not only about environmental considerations but also about efficiency and simplicity. The new solution developed by BetaPack makes it easier to dispose of used packaging – an important factor for the dairy.
“What matters most here is the time we spend on our products and how we dispose of the used packaging. It has to be as simple as possible” explains Lindhardt.
In close collaboration with Aabybro Mejeri, BetaPack developed a packaging solution that reduces plastic consumption and makes handling easier for employees. The new solution uses an E-flute tray closed with a corrugated cardboard lid, which not only eliminates plastic but also ensures that the products remain stable during handling.
The collaboration with BetaPack has been so positive that Aabybro Mejeri sees BetaPack as an important partner going forward.
“We will definitely continue to use BetaPack’s skilled employees to come up with new packaging solutions for both existing and new products” says the dairy owner.
